2-27-22--We open up the book of Sirach this week. We know that the book of Sirach is classified as “wisdom literature” within the Old Testament. Sirach is teaching us to take into prayer how do I assess a person’s character. In prayer, we must ask, to the best of our knowledge is our brother and/or sister trying to live a “righteous life.”
2/20/22--In the seventh week of Ordinary time, we begin with hear from the first Book of Samuel. We hear specific details of the military conflicts between David and Saul. As you remember, Saul was the king of Israel at the time, yet he had “lost favor” with God because he failed to follow God’s command.
2-13-22--The parish-leader (Donna Czarnik) of what was a Parish Council and is now our Parish Leadership team developed from her prayer the idea, that together we should read the Fr. James Mallon book, “Divine Renovation.” Fr. Mallon, cites St. Paul, in Ephesians 4:11-13
2-06-22--Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time We hear the Gospel mystery, Jesus’ miraculous catch of fish. Our Lord in the fifth chapter of Luke’s Gospel, gives the “timeless instruction” Be Not Afraid. St. Peter, in this mysterious Gospel passage confesses “I am a sinful man.” Yet, Jesus reassures Peter with James and John. He reassures them and us living twenty centuries later. What Jesus is demonstrating is His Call and His promise. He is Calling each of us to “be bold” not according to worldly standards but according to the promise of the certainty of Jesus’ anointed word.
