1-23-22--For this weekend and next weekend, we will open up the beginning of St. Luke’s Gospel. Scholars teach us that St. Luke’s Gospel is the only to provide a “preface.” You might immediately, think, “what about John’s Gospel?” St. John’s Gospel contains a “prologue” which is essentially what all of John’s Gospel contains. Which was “to provide an orderly, documented account of the life of Christ, starting right at the beginning.”
1-16-22--As we enter into Ordinary Time, we hear how our Lord Jesus “reveals His glory” at the Wedding Feast of Cana. Many of you who are married, may have asked for this to be read at your own wedding. Or perhaps, you have heard this Gospel proclaimed at a friend or family member’s wedding. How fitting, that our Lord Jesus chooses a wedding feast to offer such a profound miracle.
1-09-22--Baptism of the Lord Dear Friends, we celebrate the baptism of the Lord. We hear those most sacred words from God the Father, “you are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” In our minds, as we pray over this event of our Lord Jesus’ baptism, it is said that the “heavens were opened, and the Spirit descended upon Him, like a dove…” from this, those near could hear the voice of God the Father.
