October 31--Dear Friends, We hear the scribe “quizzing” Jesus and by the end of the conversation, it’s documented that the scribe “takes to heart” our Lord Jesus’ words, “not far from the kingdom of God.” The scribe had an encounter with Jesus, who was in His midst and became his neighbor.
Dear Friends, Bartimaeus, in the tenth chapter of Mark’s Gospel, asks for healing in order that he may see. It is then documented that Jesus then heals Bartimaeus from being blind. Many in our world today, seem to have “lost sight” of their deepest need; that is a relationship with Jesus. St. Josemaria Escriva, teaches us this: “We are challenged to meditate slowly on the events preceding the miracle, which will help us to recognize the ‘world of difference that is between the merciful Heart of Jesus and our own poor hearts!’
October 17 -- Brothers and Sisters – Jesus shows us, that “true greatness” consists in “self-sacrifice” that is, in laying down our own “wants” and “desires” in order to help “build-up” the kingdom of God. Jesus in the tenth chapter of St. Mark’s Gospel, defines “self-sacrifice” as this, “whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the servant of all.
October 10 -- Dear Friends, This 28th Week in Ordinary Time, we are called to consider the “spirit of wisdom.” Scripture Scholars teach us, that the “spirit of wisdom” is a great gift because it allows us “to see all of reality with perfect clarity.” Sadly, we can see, that is what the rich young man is lacking. (The “spirit of wisdom.”) Before this young man, stood his “greatest treasure” Jesus, who was looking at him with great love.

October 3 -- We are called to reflect on the gift of child like faith. “Childlike faith is often described as a faith that does not doubt, question, or seek explanations; it just believes.” St. Thérèse of Lisieux is probably one of the best “examples” of childlike faith. St. Thérèse was devoted to Eucharistic adoration and on 26 February 1895, shortly before she died, it is said that she wrote from memory her poetic masterpiece "To Live by Love" which she had composed during Eucharistic adoration.

Each ministry, both here at St. Anne and other Church members within our Family of Parishes, have decided on a special event to assist with organizations we have worked with in the past and that are dear to us.
