We hear the preaching of John the Baptist (the forerunner) to our Lord Jesus. John’s preaching is NOT meant to be “fire-and-brimstone and brimstonelars remind us, that St. John the Baptist is helping all of us to recognize the One who is to come how, He will satisfy the longing of our hearts, the One who heals our souls. The One who is to come is our ultimate source of HOPE!
As many of you may know, our Archbishop asked all of us, to join together in Advent 2022 in a new way to prepare ourselves for the most Sacred Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ. At St. Anne’s we are praying the rosary each day, thirty minutes before the first Mass of the day. (We began on November 26 and will conclude on Sunday, December 11.) If you are unable to be with us at church, please in your home, in your car, wherever you may be, let us, in our prayers and our deeds prepare the way of the Lord in our minds and our hearts so we may sing, “O Come, Let us Adore Him” in a whole new way, this Christmas!
May the Lord be with you!

SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT
1st Reading—Isaiah 11: 1-10—“A shoot shall sprout from the stum of Jesse,” prophesied Isaiah. “The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him” through wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, and awe in the presence of God.
Responsorial Psalm: — “In his days justice will flourish; in his days fullness of peace forever more.”
2nd Reading—Romans 15: 4-9— The Scriptures were written for our instruction, that we might draw encouragement from them and that “we might have hope.”
Gospel Acclamation—Halleluia, halleluia, halleluia, halleluia! “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths: all people shall see the salvation of God.”
Gospel—Matthew 3: 1-12—John the Baptist came as a preacher in the Judean desert: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” Many people flocked to him for baptism and conversion to prepare for the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire.
