Father Craig’s Contemplations Fifth Sunday of Easter We hear our Lord at the Last Supper, telling the eleven [remaining] apostles: “As I have loved you, love one another.” ALL WILL know that you are my disciples if you love another. Brothers and Sisters – each of us know, at certain times in our lives, this command “all will know you are my disciples if you love one another” – can be incredibly difficult. Each of us know, it is easy to show love, respect, and admiration to those who have always loved us. What we are called to examine, am I respectful; am I loving to those who have NOT shown me love perhaps event to go so far, have I shown love to those who have been disrespectful to me? This is the call of Christ, to show love to those who have not ever shown love to us. Yet, in the mystery of our faith, the love Jesus has for each of us as His adopted sons and daughters, is exactly what makes it possible to LOVE like He does. From our faith, we know, that St. John the beloved disciple is stressing that Jesus’ death on the Cross is the beginning of His victory! Scripture scholars will teach us that Jesus’ death on the Cross “can be considered” the first step in His ascension to God the Father. This week it is good to EXAMINE in your time of personal prayer, how am I personally doing in accepting the call of Christ? Simply, how am I doing with showing love to those who may have not ever shown love to me? God be with you! Fr. Craig
