Fr. Craig’s Contemplations Hello Friends, In this second week of Advent, we hear from the Prophet Baruch. In the fifth chapter of Baruch, we hear a message of consolation, that eventually Jerusalem will enter “the splendor of glory from God forever.” The ancient people are called to live according to the will of God, if they do, they will find lasting peace. St. Paul in the first chapter of Philippians teaches each of us, “true friendship extends into eternity.” Indeed, if we live according to God’s will for us, we will find true friendships that will carry us beyond this life, to the heavenly banquet. Sometimes, it is the “least likely” person who will offer us this “life giving” friendship. However, to “hear” God’s word, to “see in faith” we need time in quiet prayer. At St. Anne’s we have a time(s) of Eucharistic Adoration before Mass each Monday evening and each Friday morning before Mass and on every Thursday morning. It’s a time of “quiet prayer.” Many of the greatest spiritual teachers in our faith teach us that in those times of silence, God speaks in a unique way to each of us, as adopted sons and daughters. So, for this second week of Advent, as we prayerfully ponder, “how am I preparing the way of the Lord” in my life? Let us give thanks for those “least likely” friends, who are assisting us with their prayers and works. Finally, let us ask our Lord for greater peace, so that we may be enriched in a whole new way this Advent.
May God bless you, Fr. Craig
