To open our soul to His Love and to receive graces

In June, we will hear the story of St. Peter. (Still in Sacred Scripture, called “Simon, son of John.”) As you know, Simon-Peter says, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” We are called to enter into PRAYER and imagine, being on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias, where our Lord Jesus asks Peter, three times for a “profession of love.” We must remember, Jesus’ ways are NOT our ways. Consider, whenever our Lord Jesus, in Sacred Scripture asks questions, it IS NOT to “gain information.” Jesus does this in order to open Simon-Peter’s soul (and even each of our souls) to His Love and to give graces.

Step back for a moment, in sacred scripture, when the woman who suffered for many years with hemorrhage(s) and she simply touches Jesus’ cloak, Jesus asks, “who touched me?” Jesus’ tender way, as the Good Shepherd is to open a soul to His love and to give graces. {cf. notes from Fr. Sebastian White, O.P.} Simon-Peter and the woman suffering from hemorrhaging have a personal, face-to-face encounter with Jesus. Jesus then asks questions, again, not to “gain information” – He surely knows the answers to – Jesus does this to open our soul to His Love and to give graces.

In the month of June please consider, spending some quiet time with the Lord Jesus in the silence of church. (To help open your soul to receive His Love and His graces.) At St. Anne’s most Monday(s) and Friday(s) we have a time of Eucharistic Adoration (one-hour) before evening Mass on Monday(s) and (one-hour) before morning Mass on Friday(s). If you cannot attend at those times, we have Adoration available throughout the week, please don’t hesitate to call the office for more information.

May the Lord be with you and may the month of June bring you a “new reason” to rejoice.

READINGS FOR JUNE 12, 2022

THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
 

1^st Reading—Proverbs 8: 22-31— Before God created the earth or made the waters and the skies, Wisdom was there. Wisdom stood with God before the world was made.

Responsorial Psalm:  8: 4-5, 6-7, 8-9— “O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth, in all the earth!”

2^nd Reading—Romans 5: 1-5— We have been justified by faith and have been given hope in trials and hardships. This hope will not leave us disappointed, for we have received Gods love through the Holy Spirit.

Gospel Acclamation—Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
“Glory to the Father, Son & Spirit; to God who is and is to come.”

Gospel—John 16: 12-15— Jesus told his disciples that he had much more to teach them. They would come to know all truth through the Holy Spirit. What belongs to Jesus in the Father is attested by the Spirit.




TRINITY SUNDAY - JUNE 12, 2022

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

1) Let us pray for the Church:
God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, give us hope that will not leave us disappointed.  Pour out your love in our hearts.

2) Let us pray for peace:
Give wisdom, right judgment, and integrity to rulers.
End the violence that has taken so many lives, young and old. Keep all the police and military who serve and protect us, safe.
We pray to the Lord…

3) Let us pray for joy in creation:
May we behold the heavens, the moon and the stars, the works of your hands, O God. Help us to also appreciate the beauty of every living person, made in your own image.
We pray to the Lord…

4) Let us pray for the sick and the suffering:
Jesus, you bore in your own body humanity's wounds.
Bring healing to our friends, especially --

ANNOUNCEMENTS – JUNE 12, 2022

 

1. We are having a blood drive this Thursday, June 16^th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call the parish office to sign up, or simply show up to give the gift of life.

 

2. Please bring your “bottles for babies” next weekend. This money will help provide for mothers and children through the Oxford Pregnancy Center.

 

3. Mary Siring will be selling candy bars on Father's Day weekend to raise money for Right to Life LifeSpan of Oakland County.
