Fr. Craig’s Contemplations The Ascension of the Lord If you happen to live in the Archdiocese/Diocese [also known as ecclesiastical provinces] of Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Omaha and Philadelphia, the Solemnity of the Ascension is celebrated on Thursday, May 26, 2022, this year. All other Archdiocese/Diocese “transfer” the celebration of the sacred Solemnity to Sunday. So here at St. Anne’s as throughout our Archdiocese we celebrate The Ascension of the Lord. I will be away with our Knights of Columbus at this time, I hope you will make it over to St. Daniel or Our Lady of the Lakes to celebrate the Memorial of St. Philip Neri. St. Philip was a Priest from Florence and became a Dominican. It’s noted in 1551, he began his priestly ministry in Rome, spending many, many hours per day hearing confessions. St. Philip was noted to have a joyful energy from all walks of life. Our Holy Father teaches us, regarding the Ascension of Jesus, we [become] acquainted with the deeply consoling reality on our journey: in Christ, true God and true man, our humanity was taken to God. Christ opened the path to us. If we entrust our life to Him, we are certain to be in “safe hands.” As I mentioned recently, citing Archbishop Oscar Romero {now Saint Romero} after receiving threats upon his life, he said… “I do not believe in death, but the resurrection.” That is HOW Saint Romero can say and we can say “we are in safe hands” when we are in loving and most sacred hands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
May God bless you, Fr. Craig
