Dear Friends, This 28th Week in Ordinary Time, we are called to consider the “spirit of wisdom.” Scripture Scholars teach us, that the “spirit of wisdom” is a great gift because it allows us “to see all of reality with perfect clarity.” Sadly, we can see, that is what the rich young man is lacking. (The “spirit of wisdom.”) Before this young man, stood his “greatest treasure” Jesus, who was looking at him with great love. On our own, any of us would find it nearly impossible to take up the challenge of today(s) Gospel, “Go, sell what you have, give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” Left on our own, this seems impossible, but with God’s sacred Word and God’s Love anything is possible. It may not be “material wealth” that is stopping us. Perhaps it’s “technology” our phones, and computers and our time spent on social media that is “stopping” you from “following” our Lord Jesus. Perhaps it’s a wound from the past, that is preventing you from “following” our Lord Jesus. Whatever it is, ask for the Holy Spirit to give you the “spirit of wisdom” so you may be guided closer to God’s Word and God’s love, to enable you to set aside anything that prevents you from following our Lord Jesus. Please if you would, pray for me, that I may in a new way allow the “spirit of wisdom” to guide me to be that best servant I can be to the people of St. Anne’s. In Christ’ Peace, Fr. Craig
