The parish-leader (Donna Czarnik) of what was a Parish Council and is now our Parish Leadership team developed from her prayer the idea, that together we should read the Fr. James Mallon book, “Divine Renovation.” Fr. Mallon, cites St. Paul, in
Ephesians 4:11-13
The gifts he gave-we that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity to the measure of the full stature of Christ.
Specifically, Fr. Mallon is reminding all of us, that through St. Paul’s letter, each of us have different gifts and charisms that God gives to the Church as a whole… and the reason for these gifts. [[…Most significant reason…
“to equip the saints for thework of ministry…”]]
With that, I am so grateful to each of you and your contributions. In a special way, I would like to first thank Jeremy West from our Knights of Columbus. Jeremy in prayer feels called to support Seminarians. So, he has asked me about having another Euchre tournament and during the Ortonville fireworks, if we could have soda, hot dogs, etc. Both are great ideas and I grateful to Jeremy for using the gifts that God has given him to support Seminarians. As well as and being a “welcoming representative” for our parish.
Second, I would like to thank Bill Venglar, a past Grand Knight, and his dedication to the monthly potluck dinner (usually) on first Saturday(s) after the Vigil Mass. Bill, recognizes, that Jesus shared so much in the Gospel(s) at a meal, and Bill uses his gift for hospitality to help build us up. Third, to Jim Kelty, another past Grand Knight, who has agreed to be a part of our Family of Parish Finance Council. Jim has a wealth of knowledge not only about St. Anne’s Catholic Church, but many areas and I am grateful for his “yes” as we move closer to a stronger collaborative effort as a Family of Parishes.
Lastly, Kathleen Russell, a past Parish Council Leader, who most graciously is serving as Chair of our May fundraiser for our Parish Kitchen. Kathleen is a “go getter.” She is now using some of her many gifts, to help us improve our kitchen, not only the infrastructure of the kitchen, but also the overall functionality of the kitchen.
Also, it is important to note, we continue to be a tithing Parish. From the Archdiocese of Detroit, being a tithing parish, does not in any way stop/ prevent us from having fundraisers to support special parish initiatives, such as a capital project(s), etc.
Being a tithing parish is indeed a great gift. But it is only meant to define that we will give a portion of our income each year to those in need or those organizations who help those in need; it does not prevent us from having dinners, raffles, or other fund-raising initiatives.
In conclusion, I could mentioned, many, many more names, I apologize in advance to so many who work behind the scenes to help us grow as a Parish who I cannot personally call out by name in this article, most especially our dedicated parish staff.
Let us each pray for St. Paul’s intercession to identify the gift(s) or charisms we have in order to share the peace and love Jesus has planted in our hearts.
May God bless you,
Fr. Craig
