3rd Sunday of Easter

READINGS FOR APRIL 18, 2021
3rd SUNDAY OF EASTER

1st Reading—Acts of the Apostles 3: 13-15, 17-19—Peter said to the people, “The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead.” God brought to fulfillment what the prophets announced long ago; that the Messiah would suffer.

Responsorial Psalm: 4: 2, 4, 7-8, 9—“Let all the earth cry out in joy to the Lord, let all the earth cry out in joy to the Lord.”

2nd Reading—1 John 2: 1-5a—John told believers that Christ Jesus is a just intercessor who offers sacrifice for the sin of the whole world and that a person cannot know Jesus without keeping his commands.

Gospel Acclamation—Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, give the glory and the honor to the Lord! “Lord Jesus, open the Scriptures to us; make our hearts burn while you speak to us.”

Gospel—Luke 24: 35-48—The risen Christ appeared to the disciples and said, “Peace be with you.” The Lord ate cooked fish in their presence and discussed the law, prophets and psalms with them, opening their minds to understand the Scriptures.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

1) Let us pray for the Church:
May we reverence you, O Lord, and recognize you in one another.
Keep our newest members close to your heart.  
          
2) Let us pray for world peace:
Deliver the nations from the evils of racial and ethnic hatred.
Help us find the way of peace together. 
Keep those serving in the military safe in your arms.


3) Let us pray for our mother, the Earth:
May springtime's hope and beauty help us all to reverence your creation
dear God.  May we preserve the earth for our children's children.
        
4) Let us pray for the sick and the ailing:
Be with our friends who travel a journey of pain and illness, especially –

          And for all who have asked for our prayers.
         
5) Let us remember the dead:

The Knights of Columbus is hosting the Bob Knowles memorial Sporting Clays fun shoot on Saturday, May 15^th at the Grand Blanc Huntsman’s club. Registration at 9 a.m., cost is $60 for adults, $50 for 17 and under. Registration forms can be found on the Knight’s board in Hardy Hall.
