A Reflection From Fr. Gerry

Fr. Gerry is taking a much needed break. Our celebrant this weekend is Fr. Ron Anderson. Thank you Fr. Ron for being so generous of your time and talents!

1st Reading-Isaiah 55: 1-3-The Lord invites all who are thirsty to “Come to the water!” God asks the people to take heed, that they may drink wine and mild, eat well, and delight in the rich fare of the everlasting covenant.

Psalm 145: 8-9, 15-16, 17-18 – “The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.”

2nd Reading-Romans 8: 35, 37-39 – Nothing, not even death, can separate the faithful from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Alleluia! One does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. Alleluia!

Gospel-Matthew 14: 13-21 – Huge crowds followed Jesus. He felt compassion for them and healed the sick. He saw that they were hungry and, rather than send them away empty, he gave them bread and fish in abundance.

1) Let us pray for the Church:

God, who gives bread from heaven, bless your chosen people.

Help us to work for food that remains unto life eternal.

2) Let us pray for the nations:

God of the universe, you fashion people in your own likeness.

May we lay aside hatred and seek justice and peace for all.

3) Let us pray for the hungry of our world:

Jesus, you fed the multitude with your compassionate love.

Help us share our bread and friendship with the poor.

4) Let us pray for the sick:

Lord, heal and comfort those who are suffering from emotional or

physical pain, especially —

Holly Francis        Betty & Tony Morici      Bill Jawlik    Bill Knight

Adam Verrechia   Marge Park      Dolores Cumming      Elena Perea

Cooper Pavkovich     Alex Fabian Family    Renee Thompson

Kallie Moshier      Diane Naren          Dot Tebelman       Pam & Mike Allen

And all who have asked for our prayers.

5) Let us remember the dead:

May our beloved dead never hunger or thirst again.

Open the doors of heaven for those created in your image,

especially –Joe D’Anna, husband of Karen, father of Joe & Dominic and…

(5:00 Mass) Heidi Venglar, Fr. John Hardy

(8:30 Mass) John & Joyce Mooney, Fr. John Hardy

(10:30 Mass) Gloria Johnson, Fr. John Hardy

And all of the faithful departed of our parish.

6) Let us pray for our own personal needs in a moment of silence:

God of life and love, we thank you for the gift of the Eucharist.

Keep us mindful that we are the body of Christ.

We pray to the Lord…
